The fee to be paid to the rating agency shall be based on the turnover of the micro and small enterprises which has been categorized into three slabs: 75% of the fee charged by the rating agency (subject to a ceiling) would be subsidized by the ministry of MSME and shall be released through NSIC. Accordingly the benefit of subsidy can not be extended twice to any unit. The scheme permits benefit of subsidy only once towards rating of micro or small enterprises through any of the empanelled rating agency. The unit should be registered as a Micro or Small Enterprises with the concerned Physical and Financial Targets of the programme (for the year 2011-12) Besides, the rating would also infuse a sense of confidence amongst the buyers for taking a decision on the options of sourcing material from Micro and small Enterprises. The Rating Scheme would encourage Micro and small Enterprises in improving its contribution to the economy by way of increasing their productivity, since a good rating would enhance their acceptability in the market and also make access to credit quicker and cheaper and thus help in economizing the cost of credit. In the current economic scenario, there is a need to create awareness amongst Micro and small Enterprises about the strengths and weaknesses of their existing operations and to provide them an opportunity to enhance their organizational strengths.
